about
Hey there! Thanks for listening :-) This is a song I wrote in 2018 during my early college days. This song is based on my youth and experiences growing up in the Texas suburbs.
I was a weird and clumsy kid growing up (still am). I never really paid attention in school and was always in my own little bubble. In third grade, I used to get repeatedly in trouble for making the most simple mistakes such as writing on the "wrong side of paper".
Being Filipino, I was also pressured by my mom to become a nurse when I graduated high school. I also worked a part-time job as a waitress and I remember telling myself.... If you can serve and cater to all these tables, you'd be a great nurse! (bc stress/time management yknow).
I was a terrible waitress. I was soooo clumsy - Nowadays, I accept whatever bad service karma that happens to me 😪😪😪 I'm so sorry to whoever I served back then. I had to make up for it with extra sweet apologies and comps from my manager. (Got better eventually tho!)
Another big thing growing up was growing up Catholic. I went through the motions - the baptism, ccd, confirmation, etc... Just like school, I don't pay attention. I lost my father and later started questioning God and the church in general. Then in college, I got into spirituality and tarot.
Then I realized none of this really matters. I was a blessed kid living in the suburbs to be complaining about life too much. Although my religious ways faded away, my gratitude for my family, upbringing, and life will bring me back to my knees.
Overall, this song is just a snapshot of my golden memories. At the time, I was so stuck and apathetic but I loved every friend and stranger that I've met along the way. Even if we don't talk anymore, I am grateful for the experience I've had with each and every one of you.

lyrics
Spent so much time being aimless
For the sake of being shameless
Time's up, I'm zoning out
Then I fall right through the clouds
Yes, I'm here in purgatory
Time exists but
Time stopped for me
Scribbled on every page
Signing off all my mistakes
Wrong side of paper
Oh dear Lord save her
'Cause I find comfort
In the pause
I press play
Just to get lost
Suburban Summers
And past-time lovers
Everything will come and go
Time will show you
What you know
Suburban summers
And past-time lovers
You will learn
From waiting tables
Lack of focus can be fatal
Sleep in makeup
With your old daydreams
One day you'll see
What I mean
'Cause I find comfort
In the pause
I press play
Just to get lost
Suburban Summers
And past-time lovers
Everything will come and go
Time will show you
What you know
Suburban summers
And past-time lovers
I'll walk alone
After this
No rest or hurry
Just pure intent
I'll walk alone
After this
No rest or hurry
Just pure intent
'Cause I find comfort
In the pause
I press play
Just to get lost
Suburban Summers
And past-time lovers
One more hit
And I'll fight God
Back on my knees
Like I forgot
Suburban summers
And past-time lovers
